We drove from East 91st Street and 2nd Avenue
All the way to your place in the middle of Brooklyn
The night gay marriage was legalized.
The Manhattan skyline was lit up rainbow
As though each building had coordinated in advance
Anticipating this day would inevitably come.
We were surrounded by colors and light
Drunk and giddy by the beautiful turn the world had taken
Looking forward to a future that could only grow brighter.
Sometimes I still close my eyes and remember
And remember
And remember.
