Late-night summer walks under the black glittering sky
through lit up blue neon streets to the corner store,
hugging each other tight, holding his back and
his hand holding mine. We’re both on a mission
to make the most of the nighttime. Race each other
down the cement sidewalk to the stoplights and lose,
catch my breath and laugh, watch how the street lights
swim over our heads these city stars overhead watch
as I’m pulled in for a kiss, my skinny arms wrapped
around his neck, not a worry present when I press
my lips to his- mini skirt backward baseball cap
pierced kids intertwined in the rush of traffic
breezing past like perfect moments gone too fast.
