At the end of apex species’s folly,
there ticks a celestial clock
that senses a planet burning
***
The sun turns blue
from the core
like a godeye opening
For once in history,
all of mankind is in agreement:
Nature, the true god
was always overhead
watching every day
We betrayed divinity,
the Sun
Parents hurriedly hide children
into caves
Cold sunlight stiffens skin
freezes pedals, slows time itself
until the planet becomes
a dollhouse
***
In the dark quietude,
there ticks again the celestial clock
but in reverse
***
Light grows brilliant, thawing ice
children once planted in caves
sprout
They crawl down mountains, carrying magic
of blooming life
One by one, they revive the spirits
that once were murdered
by their parents’ hands
