Submissions

The journal welcomes unsolicited flash, poetry and fiction submissions by both emerging, and established authors. We admire all forms of transgressive, absurdist, and minimalist literature. To get an idea of what kind of work we like, please see the various works we have published in the past. We do not believe in silent rejections, we send a response to all submissions. Our response time is about four weeks. Usually sooner.

Rights:
Maudlin House acquires first publication rights, but you, the writer, still own your work. What this means is that we hold the publication rights for 30 days after our issue publication. After 30 days, you are free to publish and submit your work elsewhere. We kindly ask for acknowledgment for subsequent reprints of your work.

Payment:
Gratitude and admiration for now.

General Guidelines:
WE DO NOT ACCEPT PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED WORK. Any work that has been posted or otherwise made publicly available online is considered to have been “previously published”. This includes blogs and social media sites. We do, however, accept simultaneous submissions. We encourage them and wish you luck in getting your work published. Just be sure to immediately notify us if your work is accepted elsewhere.

Multiple Submissions:
Please submit only one piece at time (unless we ask explicitly to see more work). We will get back to you in a timely fashion, at which time you can send in more work. We ask this because there are only so many hours and so much coffee available to us. We want to be able to give each and every submission the time and consideration that they deserve.
